Bruce Baraby Puts Lottery Ticket In Lunch Box For Safekeeping

Bruce BarabyToo many people have become careless with their winning lottery tickets. First, there was John Brush, who locked his ticket in his car, and now there's Bruce Baraby. Bruce put his winning lottery ticket in his lunch box for safekeeping. These guys could have lost a lot of money by storing something so valuable in unsafe places. Could have, but luckily didn't. Either way, you gotta put your winning lottery tickets somewhere safer than that, folks. Or, even better, just cash them in right away.

Bruce Baraby won $250,000 playing an instant scratch lotto game called Idaho Millions. The story goes like this: Bruce bought the Idaho Millions ticket and then put it in his lunch box. That's fine, nothing wrong with that. Then, a few days later, he remembered that he had the ticket and scratched it. That's when he saw that it was a big winner. But he didn't really believe that he won, so he just through it back in his lunch box. That's when anybody could have just stolen it. It's not that hard to steal a lunch box, you know? The winning ticket stayed in the lunch box until Bruce was able to verify it a few days later.

So, what will Bruce Baraby do with all the money? In his own words, "Wow, that will pay off the house, the truck, a few bills!"

Idaho Millions is an instant scratch-off game from Idaho Lottery. The game costs $20 to play and the top prize is $250,000, which Bruce Baraby won. The odds of winning the $250,000 top prize in the game are approximately 1-in-175,000.

Congratulations to Bruce Baraby on his lucky win!

Jenny Southall - From Hostel To Public Housing To Mansion After Lotto Win

Jenny SouthallIn December of 2006, Jenny Southall was homeless, with three kids. That's because after her divorce, she had to sell her house because she couldn't afford the mortgage on a £9,000 a year income. Yes, you read that right - £9,000 a year... and with three kids to support. That month, she was staying in a hostel. She soon moved out of the hostel and into public housing, which she described as dreadful. At this time, Jenny was at the lowest point in her life.

Soon, though, Jenny Southall's fortunes changed. She won the lotto just a few months later, in April of 2007. £8.3 million ($13,716,579 USD)!!!

But many people will tell you that money doesn't buy happiness, right? Winning the lottery can't make you happy. WRONG!!! Jenny is super happy. And, so is her family.

Jenny Southall recently attended the National Lottery's 15th anniversary celebration, where she shared what winning the lottery has been able to do for her. First off, she doesn't ever need to worry about bills, something she often had to do while she was poor. Second, Jenny had never had a car, passport, or even been on a plane prior to her lottery win. Third, She always wanted to live in a big house and bought a mansion worth £1.5 million. Fourth, she gave away half of her winnings to her family, thus helping them all out immensely.

Two years after her lottery win, Jenny Southall is happy. Her family is happy. And they say that money doesn't buy happiness.

More Multiple Lottery Winners - Eugene & Adeline Angelo

Adeline AngeloI love hearing about multiple lottery winners. So very few people ever get to hit the jackpot, relative to the amount of people that play lotteries, yet there's a select few people that actually beat the odds more than once. It's cool to hear about these people, yet it's bittersweet because they get to do twice what so many people dream of doing just once - collect a big paycheck from the lottery.

I've covered multiple lottery winners many times on this blog, including Seguro Ndabene, Stephen Cooke, Erik Martineau, Mary Wollens, Brenda Bailey, and Robert Hong. And, that's just the tip of the iceberg; there have been many more multiple lottery winners. Here's another one - Eugene & Adeline Angelo. They're pictured here with their sons Eugene Jr, Michael, and Steven.

Eugene & Adeline Angelo first won the lottery in December of 1996, when they won $2.5 million from New York Lottery. They won again in August of 2007. That win brought them an additional $5 million. That adds up to $7.5 million all together. After winning for the second time, the couple said that they would keep on playing the lottery. They say it's fun. Damn right... that is, if you're lucky enough to win!

Even with their second win, Eugene and Adeline Angelo said that they planned to continue to live modestly. However, they did say that they hoped the money would buy them good health and longevity. They also planned to give money to each of their children.

Probably the best story of a multiple lottery winner, though, is this Oklahoma professor that won 3 times with a system that he, himself, developed.

New Zealand Lottery Winner Ethel Hume From Ashburton

Ethel HumeNew Zealand lottery winner, Ethel Hume, from Ashburton is $125,000 richer thanks to Lotto's Winning Wheel!

The New Zealand Lottery has a pretty cool feature where people that hold losing tickets get a chance to enter them into a second chance draw to appear on a game show and spin the Winning Wheel. This is what happens with the lottery in New Zealand. During every Saturday's live lottery draw, a serial number from all tickets sold that week also gets drawn. If you match the drawn serial number, you will get a chance to appear on a future live draw to spin the "Winning Wheel." The Winning Wheel has prizes on it, ranging from $100,000 to $1 million, and even has other prizes like Mercedes Benz' and Audis. Not only that, the person with the winning serial number gets an all-expenses paid trip to Wellington, NZ, which also includes accommodations for the winner and a guest to stay at a luxury hotel. Not bad at all!

Ethel Hume appeared on the game show on May 23, 2009 where she spun the wheel to win $125,000. At the time of her win, Ethel was a retired grandmother and living in Ashburton, New Zealand. Ethel said that the prize that she won will make a nice addition to her retirement fund. Ethel also said that she plays the lottery regularly and I think that she keep playing for years to come, now that she's had a taste of winning big money!

Ethel Hume should try this guy's system if she really wants to win big!

Lucky-4-Life Winner Mary Fassio

Mary FassioLucky-For-Life is a new game from CT Lottery that began on March 29, 2009. It offers a top prize of $2000 every week for the rest of your life. The odds of winning the top prize in the game are approximately 1-in-3.2-million. With relatively good odds, Lucky-4-Life is a great game to play if you live in Connecticut.

Mary Fassio, of Bethlehem, Connecticut is one of the fortunate people to win the $2000/week jackpot in the Lucky-4-Life game in the September 3, 2009 draw.

Although getting an extra $2000 every week is a lot of money, Mary Fassio says that it won't change her. She said that she will keep working because she loves her job. However, a few things will change. Mainly, Mary will now be able to send her son to the college of his choice, she will be able to go on vacations with her family, and she will move to a property that has a barn to house her horse.

Speaking of her horse, Mary Fassio celebrated her big win with a bag of carrots for her horse!

Last Lotto Super Seven Winner Ever: Jean Canning Of Beechy Saskatchewan

Jean Canning - Super SevenA little over a month ago, Lotto Super Seven held its very last draw in Canada. It was replaced with a game called Lotto Max. Lotto Max fever is now hitting a high note, with the jackpot being a huge $50 million! $50 million is available to be won in the next draw, tax-free of course, as all lotteries in Canada are. But that's not to mention the additional estimated 10 Maxmillions draws of $1 million each. Add it all up and you would see why everybody in Canada is talking about Lotto Max.

But back to the retired Lotto Super Seven lottery. The last jackpot was $23,963,940 and it was won by just one person. That person was Jean Canning of Beechy, Saskatchewan. Not only that, Jean Canning just happens to now be the largest lottery winner in the province of Saskatchewan's history!

Beechy, Saskatchewan is a small village in the middle of nowhere. With a population of just over 200, the only store that sells newspapers was out of newspapers. So, Jean Canning couldn't check her tickets (I wonder if she knows that you can check the numbers online? Or, maybe, Beechy, Saskatchewan doesn't even have internet yet?). She kept her tickets in her purse for a week without even knowing that she was the big winner.

Jean Canning didn't say much about what she would be doing with her new fortune. In fact, after her win, her phone was disconnected and the residents of her village weren't saying anything either.

Kevin Lee Sutton - Lotto Winner's Attempted Murder With A Gun

Kevin Lee Sutton - Attempted MurderIf you ever win the lottery, promise me that you'll be able to spend the rest of your life enjoying it. Please! Along the same lines, promise me that you won't do something stupid because if you do something stupid you won't be able to enjoy your riches.

Carrying a gun would be something stupid. That's because, eventually, you might use it. Then you'll go to jail. And, you can't enjoy your life while in jail. Kevin Lee Sutton won the lottery. He won $3 million from Colorado Lottery in 1997. A few years later, in June of 2004, he shot someone in the head and was charged with attempted murder. That's stupid!

Kevin Lee Sutton's stepson had been fighting with a friend named Cristobal Lopez. Kevin wanted them to stop. So, what he said happened was that he pointed his gun at his stepson. Then he pointed it at Cristobal Lopez. While pointing it at Cristobal, he said that he accidentally shot it. He didn't intend to kill him. The bullet pierced his scalp. He was taken to hospital and survived the gunshot wound.

Luckily, Cristobal survived. Otherwise, Kevin Lee Sutton could have been charged with murder. He was charged with attempted murder, which is a serious crime, nonetheless. If convicted, attempted murder carries a jail sentence, whether or not you intended to kill the person. And, you cannot enjoy your lottery win while in jail, right?

*** Speaking of getting shot... Have you seen THIS STORY of an Oklahoma Professor that won the lottery three times and was shot by some thugs that wanted his secret?

5-Time Lottery Winner Seguro Ndabene Investigated By WCLC & Alberta Court of Queen's Bench

Seguro Ndabene - 5-Time Lottery WinnerSometimes, winning the lottery could become a nightmare. Let's say you legitimately win a big lottery jackpot. You go in to the prize claim office to collect your prize, when you find out that somebody called in to say that they bought the winning ticket with you and, hence, want half the money. If something like this would happen, the lottery corporation would hold the money and do an investigation before handing over any money. That could mean a lengthy wait to get the money, whether or not the other party had a legitimate or frivolous claim. It could happen; it's happened before.

One current example is that of a man named Seguro Ndabene. He's actually a 5-time lottery winner. But it's his last, and also biggest win, that is in dispute.

Seguro Ndabene's story story starts with his first big win. That was in 2004 when he won $1 million in the Western 649 game. That was followed by a $100,000 win playing Extra in 2006. Then came another $1 million win in Western 649 in 2008 and another $50,00 in the same game in the same year. Finally, Seguro win $17 million in Lotto Super 7 in January of 2009. That's the big one and it's the one that is being disputed.

Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) investigates big lottery wins prior to making payments and it this one was investigated deeper, due to the fact that Seguro Ndabene's brother-in-law, Antonin Koprnicky, claimed to own a piece of the win. The case has become too complicated for WCLC and, so, it has handed it over to Alberta Court of Queen's Bench who will ultimately decide who the rightful owner(s) of the $17 million Lotto Super 7 prize is.

It should be noted that Seguro Ndabene does admit to playing the lottery with a group, but says that any group plays are stamped on the back of the ticket. He also claims to spend hundreds of dollars on the lottery every month and the winning Lotto Super 7 ticket was purchased by him, and him alone.

This case is still being investigated by Alberta Court of Queen's Bench and payment has yet to be made to anybody.

Seguro Ndabene may be a 5-time lottery winner, but he's not the only person to win multiple lottery prizes. Check out this story of a professor that won three times!
